eICU® Care Delivery

Telemedicine Pics and remote monitoring and intensivist and <em>e</em>ICU®Within a single critical care network, hospitals will differ in their physician coverage models, patient acuity, and available resources. The eICU Program accommodates this variability with different staffing models of intensivists and critical care nurses from the hospital/health system.

For example, dedicated on-site intensivists may be present from 8 A.M. until 6 P.M., with the eICU team providing coverage from 6 P.M. until 8 A.M. On-site intensivists continue to set individual patient care plans and retain responsibility for unit management. This scenario has the dual advantage of maintaining expert oversight during off-hours and improving the lifestyle of the on-site intensivists.

In units without dedicated daytime intensivists, the eICU Program can provide 24/7 patient monitoring, backing up the admitting physician and consultants who cannot be in constant attendance. Physicians are able to specify how they want to work with the eICU , with options ranging from being called for all problems to empowering the eICU team to provide necessary care.

The hospital/health system eICU care delivery process is supported by VISICU during training, implementation and following go-live with:
